Dr Gillian J B Cottam, Specialist in Orthodontics,

I am a highly trained Registered Specialist in  Orthodontics with over 30 years’ experience. I have been privileged to have studied with experts in the UK, Europe, Canada, USA and Australia.

For me, getting to know my patients and understanding their Dental concerns is just as important as the treatment itself. I care about what I do and endeavour to work to the best of my abilities, with my highly trained team members, in providing service and quality dental care to my patients.

I teach as a part time lecturer in Orthodontics at Birmingham Dental school.

I am a Member of the Birmingham Local Dental Committee, British Orthodontic Society, past Treasurer and Chair of the Midlands Orthodontic Society, an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontics and a member of the  European Orthodontic Society and a founder member of the World Federation of Orthodontics .

As a member of the British Orthodontic Society and the Orthodontic Specialists Group, I was awarded a Special Service Award in 2015.

As a Platinum Elite Provider of Invisalign I am an invited Member of the Invisalign Academy and Advisory Board. I am an Invisalign International Speaker and Key Opinion Leader and was presented with a Platinum Award, Offered in recognition of Advancing the field of Orthodontics and a further award in recognition of completing 1000 Invisalign cases.

I am a both a role model and Mentor to young Dentists, staff and students. I was presented with  the Inspirational and Achievement awards by Orthodontics Exclusively in December 2017.

With a passionate interest in lifelong learning, I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Health Care Professionals, an Advanced Diploma in Hypnosis and Stress Management and a Level 7 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring, sponsored by Birmingham Local Dental Committee .

I can speak French and schoolgirl German.

Dr Cottam is married to Dr David Cottam, Registered Specialist In Surgical Dentistry, Chairman BDA GDPC, with 3 beautiful, talented daughters.
